Have you ever had those days when you’re wondering when all the work you put in will pay off?

Yeah, me too.

It’s almost like you begin to question what you’re really working for. You wonder why you’re putting in all this work if it isn’t going to pay off. You’re frustrated. You’re tired! Even a little annoyed that you aren’t closer to achieving your goals.

This way of thinking can turn into a downward spiral. It can make you question what the point of all this work is if it’s not going to materialize into anything. And if you’re not careful, it can sabotage you reaching your goals and dreams!

“How do I stop this from happening to me?” Great question!

I used to ask myself the same question when I had days where I felt down and discouraged about what was going to happen in the future. Even to this day, as a professional soccer player in the top league in country, I have had and still have discouraging days! So, here’s what I do during these difficult times.

“Dang, that’s all you got for me, Brandt?”

Yeah… that’s all I got, cause that’s all you need. Think about it. If not that, then what? Quit? Wallow in self-pity? I can tell you right now, those options definitely aren’t the solution!

Look, I know negative and self-defeating thoughts aren’t easy to shake. But, I’ve learned the only way to go through something, is to go through it! I’ve also found that usually these thoughts only surface when I’m thinking or worrying about something that I have no control over. Especially what will happen in the future.

Setting goals are great! It gives you something to work and strive for.  However, when you get too consumed with how the future will look, you lose sight of the only piece of time that you have control over – the now. So, for today, focus on the work that you can do now. This is the best way to get where you want to go.

“If you are going through hell, keep going.” – Winston Churchill

I fell in love with this quote the first time I read it. It reminds me to stay the course and to continue putting in the work. Did you think it was going to be easy? Well, it’s not! There will be highs, lows, ups and downs! But through the rollercoaster of life, you can always do the work.

If you’re struggling right now, or when you encounter struggles, remind yourself that the storm won’t last forever. Never stop believing in the work you do and never stop fighting for your goals and dreams!

I believe in you… KEEP WORKING!
